Have you heard of Affiliate Marketing?

I had never heard of affiliate marketing.

October 2018 was the first time I read about affiliate marketing. I was amazed and thrilled about the possibilities. Write a review or article that anyone can read, anywhere in the world, anytime of the day.

Look at some companies who have affiliate programs:

• Amazon with reported 2017 net sales of $177.87 billion.
• Google with 2017 net sales of $110.38 billion U.S. dollars.
• Disney Company with June 2019 estimated net sales $130 billion U.S. dollars
• EBay with 2017 net sales of $10.7 billion U.S. dollars.
• Apple with fourth quarter 2017 earnings of $52.6 billion.

These are some very big and successful businesses. I can’t think of anyone who has not heard of them. Can you imagine why these companies would have an affiliate program? They see the benefit of many individual websites promoting their products.

Why are they willing to pay you a percentage of their sales you send their way? Because, it works. When you’re looking to buy something, where do you go to look for information about the product you are thinking of buying? I go to the internet. Don’t you?

The internet is the source most people use to learn about an item before buying. During 2017, estimated 3.9 billion people worldwide used the internet. During 2018 total sales online was over 500 billion dollars. Do you want to be a part of that?

It is a new way of doing business.

Where do you start?

How do you get a website built? How do you create traffic to make money?

You could build your own site. There are books on how to build your own website.

The answer for me was learn from someone else, someone who has done it.

Like you, I asked “Can I do this too?” Can I make enough money to replace my job? You have heard of people who make money on the internet. Can you put in the work to build a business on line?

Making a few hundred dollars a month. To thousands per month is directly related to the time and effort you invest, now.

Don’t get confused or misunderstand, you will still have to work hard to make money. This will require you to write about something you like, have interest in, or you have experience with – called a niche.

Niche

Think about the things that are interesting to you. What do you enjoy? Do you have a talent? A hobby? Do you already have experience someone else wants to know about?

Write down ten things you like. Examples:

1. Gaming
2. Quilting
3. Golf
4. Tennis
5. Nursing
6. Toddler toys
7. Planes
8. Leather work
9. Home brewing
10. Children books

Make your own list. Repeat.

Some of these are very broad. You will need to narrow your niche. For example: tennis, you would want to narrow it down to a player, clay vs. hard courts, or equipment.

One site which has done very well is NFL snack helmets. Can you imagine, a whole site just about snack helmets?

Now you have ideas to work with.

How do you get people to look at your site?

Good content with keywords will draw people to your website. What are keywords?

Try typing something into your search window. As you type, Google anticipates what you might be looking for. This will give you an idea of what people are looking for when they type in certain words. Keywords to help pull traffic to your posts.

Google is a search engine of the internet, they monitor websites on the internet. Google places the most credibility on sites with good consistent content. The content has keywords. Keywords people are looking for information about.

Have you seen Ralph Breaks the Internet? Remember the little man behind the counter, KnowsMore? When he hears a word, he responds quickly with what he thinks you are searching. This gives you keywords to write in a post.

Google is saying there are a lot of searches with these four combinations of words. You can write a post using these combinations.

There is also a tool called Jaaxy which can help you narrow down search words and phrases.

Online Business Training.

As a member of WA you have access to Online Entrepreneur Certification and Affiliate Bootcamp training provided by Kyle of WA.

• Online Entrepreneur Certification training is a 5 phase (50 lesson) series of courses walking you through the process of creating and growing a business within any niche you select.
• Affiliate Bootcamp training is a 7 phase (70 lesson) series of courses walking you through the process of creating and establishing a business related to the promotion of Wealthy Affiliate.

There are also weekly live training. Every Friday live training is provided by magistudios (Jay). The training covers many subjects to help all members of the WA community succeed.

WA Member provided training. After three months as a WA member, you can create training. There are many topics available to help you learn to build your websites and business. Many of these members come with experience prior to joining WA.

Pay it forward.

Members write Blogs about their businesses, their websites. They explain how things worked or did not work to build their business.

They encourage each other.

Set goals together, it helps to have someone to be accountable to.

Helping others find training. New members often have many questions. Members with more experience will find existing training that answers questions or problems they are having.

As you build your website you can get other members to review your website or article you are adding. Site comments allows you to have members to make comments. This also builds credibility to your site. Google looks at how many comments are made and your responses. This shows you are around to stay.

 

 

How to make money.

You write articles or product reviews then people will read what you have to say. As you create traffic, some people will take your advice and buy products. This converts in to money from the affiliates you have links.

To be part of the affiliate programs with the companies mentioned above, you have to apply.

They have different requirements to be part of their affiliate programs, like a minimum traffic requirement. Some programs I have look into want 300 to thousand average visitors per month. This would be difficult for a new website, business. Yes, this will be your business.

There are many companies with affiliate programs. To find the one that fits you, go to your search window (type niche + affiliate program) such as (tennis affiliate program).

These companies see you as a sales person. When you become part of their program you receive a link (affiliate code). When your customer / reader clicks to shop, a cookie is attached to them with your affiliate code. The cookie will last a day to 90 plus days, depending on the company. Commission are 2% to 8% (Amazon) on sales, there is a minimum before commission is paid.

But with Wealth Affiliate you are automatically given an affiliate tracking code to use.
Including free (trial) members. That is why you will see so many websites selling the Wealthy Affiliate opportunity. YES, Including me. I hope you can see the potential.

Is it easy? Nothing worth it, is easy. You will learn new things. It may take six months to a year to build the traffic to start earning income. So, don’t quit your day job. YET.

The world is looking for help. People with expert information.

John Colton, an expert copywriter, explains how you can become a subject expert. Pick the niche, subject, you want to become an expert. Go to the library. Pull all the books about the subject. Go through them looking for what they talk about.

What are the common things?

Also, look for something that is different from what the other books speak to. After a few hours, you will know as much as anyone in the industry. You can use this knowledge to talk with others, who are considered experts. Talk with them, get them to open up about any secrets. Now share what you learn with others. You can write your own book, as a giveaway on your website.

Think about it.

When you sit in front of your laptop from now on, you will be building your business. You might spend a lot of time on your phone or laptop now. But are you making money?

Now don’t get me wrong you will not make money overnight. You will put in a lot of hours learning how to develop your niche and the website to support it.

As you sit and write about your chosen niche. You will start to become the individual people will return to learn from. Some call this Building a Brand. When you build a following, the world becomes your customer.
